It is so easy to take normal physical functions for granted until you hit a snag with one of them. When I am running around busy, I hardly think about putting one foot in front of the other, or how the bones in my feet are working, or the tendons and muscles. But the other day, I stubbed my big toe really hard on the leg of a desk, and even though I had my shoes on, it still jarred my toe pretty intensely. As a result I developed an in-grown nail a couple of days later, and had to hobble around to avoid putting weight on it. It really makes you stop and consider how much work your feet are really doing whenever you're rushing around going to church or school, work, or running errands (dashing around Wal-Mart). We take hundreds of steps every day, each step being cushioned and balanced by our hard-working toes. My foot is on the mend now, but I am reminded of how grateful I should be to have toes that I can stand on and feet that hold me up without problems. It is a gift to be mobile, and I am reminded to be thankful. Cheers to our feet!

Thanks for the reminder, Sarah. I too have been counting my steps lately as my body takes on more aches and pains with this pregnancy. Rather than complain I should be praising the Lord it is temporary (and all for a good purpose, unlike a stubbed toe) and being grateful for all the times I don't hurt. :)
Sarah, glad your foot is feeling better. Too bad you didn't kick your boss instead. (:
