Happy October

Happy October!

It now officially feels like fall. The leaves may still be green here in Central Alabama, but the autumn spirit is in the air. My neighbors have started putting out their scarecrows made of hay and one neighbor just put out a large inflatable pumpkin that Winnie The Pooh peeks out of (is he looking for pumpkin honey?) :) . I chose a slightly more subtle touch by putting a straw broom on my front door that is decorated with faux pumpkins and craft ribbon. But the idea is the same. Summer is officially gone and we now turn our attention to cooler breezes, great football, and the realization that we are going to have to pull out last year's warm clothes and re-organize (what fun). But, with the cool breezes of autumn also comes the anticipation of the Holidays - the Macy's Parade and Thanksgiving, and the fun of figuring out the Christmas shopping (come on, it can be fun!) :) .

This year will be our first Holiday season with our cat Mocha. We adopted her from the Shelby County Animal Shelter in April of this year as a 4 month old kitten, and we are looking forward to letting her experience the sights and sounds of the Holidays (and delicious smells!). Although we will certainly have to put our Christmas tree up in a room where the door can be closed when we are gone so she doesn't try to climb the tree or have an ornament munching fest, it will still be so fun to see her reaction to all the lights and twinkles. She's come a long way since being picked up by the shelter, and we are so glad that we could give her a home. She has no tail, so that should make it a little easier to keep her from knocking ornaments off as she walks past the tree! :)

So, I hope you all have a great October. Let the pumpkin pie baking begin. Now, if I could just get one of the leaves on the oak tree in my yard to turn orange.....

Made me smile and take a deep breath. Hmm. I thought I smelled cinnamon and cloves...

Mocha is in for the treat of her life with all the good smells and sensations of the fall and winter seasons. Hope you can keep the camera close.

I'm soo excited about fall! Your post made me even more ready for the holidays! Thanks for the career advice, it's very encouraging and made me realize that I don't have to figure everything out right this second. You are fantastic, and I love you! By the way, Musings of a Mom- is that your Mom's blog??

What, you don't think a six-foot piglet is subtle? Hmmm, I like your idea better. And I love the fall! Mocha will enjoy getting to see your decorating skills.
